Store Electronic Systems (Euronext: SESL, FR0010282822), the leading supplier of Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) for large-scale food and non-food retailers, was awarded the “Store Equipment” prize at the 36th edition of the LSA innovation awards, held on Wednesday December 16, 2015 at the Salle Wagram in Paris.

This award is in recognition of a two-fold innovation tested in the Intermarché store in Issy les Moulineaux:

Mobile Self-Scanning: in partnership with STIME, the IT subsidiary of the Mousquetaires grouping, and BudgetBox, SES offers a completely new shopping experience to consumers: a contactless “self-scanning” program that includes personalized vouchers. The application uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology incorporated within SES’ NFC electronic labels. Shoppers add an item to their shopping basket with their smartphone by holding it near the label, immediately benefit from customized and contextualized discount vouchers, know at all times the exact amount of their purchases and go through the checkout without having to unload their basket.

The Real-Time Planogram: thanks to its new Jeegy S software, SES uses labels to locate and identify the position of products in stores, providing shoppers, store staff and Click And Collect order pickers with accurate information to pinpoint products. Knowing the location of all the products means that the product inventory can be managed in real-time and the productivity of in-store picking for the Click And Collect service increased through a direct effect on basket preparation time. Thanks to dynamic merchandising, this tool means that consumption hotspots can be detected and in-store facing adapted, thereby increasing the autonomy of stock on shelves and reducing lost sale revenue and excessive stock levels.

Thierry Gadou, CEO of Store Electronic Systems, comments: “We are proud to have received this award, which again rewards the significant investments that SES makes in innovation. This is a pivotal issue given that we are on the verge of a new digital shopping revolution: the digitalization of the physical point of sale and the convergence of channels. The Intermarché store in Issy les Moulineaux heralds the connected store of tomorrow, which will be more efficient and multi-channel.”

Next press release: 2015 annual sales, published on January 15, 2016.
