Executive Summary:
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially endorsed VusionGroup’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, validating the company’s climate strategy against internationally recognized standards aligned with the Paris Agreement. The approved targets cover Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and reinforce Vusion’s commitment to measurable, science-based decarbonization across its global operations and value chain. This milestone strengthens VusionGroup’s ESG leadership and demonstrates its long-term commitment to sustainable retail technology and responsible growth.
Two years after the launch of its Roadmap for Positive Commerce , VusionGroup has taken a significant new step in its climate action plan by getting the validation of its near-term objectives by the Science Based Targets initiatives (SBTi).
At the heart of VusionGroup global strategy, decarbonization is the driver of our long-term vision consisting of sustainable business practices and sustainable innovation, as we actively seek solutions to minimize our environmental footprint.
Overall, the emission reduction targets of the Group’s validated climate trajectory are aligned with a 1.5°C trajectory set by the Paris Agreement. These targets are:
- A –42% absolute contraction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, compared to 2022 (the base year);
- A -51.6% Scope 3 carbon intensity reduction by 2030 compared to the 2022 base year, meaning reducing scope 3 GHG emissions per thousand EUR value added within the same timeframe [mainly emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, business travel, employee commuting and use of sold products].
Pascale Dubreuil, Chief Sustainability Officer at VusionGroup, commented:
“We are demonstrating our commitment to building a sustainable future for us and for our planet by letting science guide our actions with Science-Based Targets. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global body that enables companies to set greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement. SBTi validates whether corporate emissions targets are consistent with limiting global warming to well below 2°C, and ideally 1.5°C.
SBTi endorsement confirms that VusionGroup’s emissions reduction targets are science-based, measurable, and aligned with internationally recognized climate standards. It validates the company’s structured approach to reducing carbon emissions across its operations and supply chain.
VusionGroup’s plan includes:
-
Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled operations
-
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
-
Scope 3: Value chain emissions, including suppliers and logistics
Addressing all three scopes demonstrates a comprehensive decarbonization strategy.
Science-based targets provide transparency, accountability, and credibility in corporate climate action. They help organizations align sustainability strategies with global climate goals while meeting investor, regulatory, and stakeholder expectations worldwide.
By committing to validated emissions reductions, VusionGroup strengthens its position as a responsible technology partner for retailers seeking to reduce environmental impact, improve ESG performance, and advance sustainable operations across international markets.
Retail technology providers play a key role in reducing emissions through energy-efficient solutions, digitalization, supply chain optimization, and waste reduction tools. A science-based climate strategy ensures that innovation and sustainability progress together.
