A network of remote servers used to store, process and access data via the Internet, reducing on-site infrastructure.
Collaboration & Data Monetization
A solution enabling brands and retailers to share data, track compliance, and generate revenue through retail insights.
Computer Vision
A field of artificial intelligence that enables computers and cameras to interpret and understand visual information from the real world — used in retail to monitor shelves, detect out-of-stocks, and analyse shopper behaviour
Derived Data
Data generated from the usage of connected devices, used to produce insights or advanced analytics.
Digital Rail
Refers to the digitalisation of infrastructure, operations, and services. In retail, adapted as ‘digital retail rail’ — the digital backbone supporting connected stores.
Digital Retail Media
Advertising strategies and media placements within retail environments (online, in-store) allowing brands to reach shoppers via retailer assets and data.
Edge (or Cloud-Edge)
The processing of data near its source (e.g., in stores or IoT gateways) before syncing with the cloud for faster response and lower latency.
Engage
A retail marketing platform enabling in-store / digital campaigns, dynamic content at the shelf, and monetisation of store traffic via retail media.
ESL (Electronic Shelf Label)
A connected digital shelf label replacing paper tags, displaying real-time product info and prices in a store environment.
Food Waste Management
A solution using AI, tracking and forecasting tools to reduce food waste and improve inventory rotation.
HF-ESL (High-Frequency Electronic Shelf Label)
A higher-frequency version of ESLs providing faster, more reliable communication between labels and network infrastructure.
Infraless
A lightweight or “server-less” infrastructure concept relying primarily on cloud services, minimizing on-site hardware.
Infrastructure
The hardware and software components required to run the IoT network and cloud platforms (servers, gateways, antennas, etc.).
IoT (Internet of Things)
A network of connected devices that collect and exchange data over the Internet, used here to link electronic shelf labels and in-store equipment.
IoT Asset Management
Platform module that monitors the lifecycle of IoT devices (labels, sensors) — from deployment to maintenance.
IoT Devices
Connected devices (labels, sensors, cameras, gateways) within the ecosystem that collect and exchange data.
IoT Infrastructure (VusionGroup)
The in-store IoT infrastructure solution (access points, gateways, integration with existing network) enabling connection of ESLs and devices.
Local eCommerce
A commerce model where local or brick-and-mortar retailers use online channels and local delivery/fulfilment to serve nearby consumers rapidly.
Memory
A retail-intelligence software platform that uses AI and data analytics to help retailers and brands optimise store performance, pricing, assortment and promotions.
OTA (Over-The-Air)
Technology that enables remote software updates and configuration changes in devices without physical intervention.
Plug-and-Play
A feature enabling immediate setup and integration of a device without complex manual configuration.
SaaS (Software as a Service)
A software delivery model where applications are hosted in the cloud and accessed online, without local installation.
Shelf Edge Analytics
Analytics applied to the shelf edge to monitor SKU-level performance, detect out-of-stock issues, and optimise replenishment.
Shopper Services
Digital tools that engage shoppers in-store by connecting online and offline experiences with personalised, dynamic content.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)
A unique identifier used to track and manage individual product references in stores or warehouses.
