Large grocery and specialties retailer seeking ways to drive velocity of slow-moving wine products.
Challenge
Even in a small grocery that can carry 4,000 different products, it is sometimes hard to know that some stock lines are not selling - either on the shelves or in storage. PULSE identified that a particular wine in a customer store - Thorin Pinot Noir – hadn’t sold in two months.
Solution
Using PULSE and electronic shelf labels, the product was highlighted through its SPOTLIGHT feature using color on the label to distinguish it from the rest in order to increase its chances of selling. It sold every week on SPOTLIGHT (for three weeks) while set as ‘Wine of the Week’ despite no price change.
Results
Just being on spotlight for three weeks raised the annual volume of sales on this product by 7%.
