Customer Story

Cutting Waste, Out-of-Stocks, and Labor Costs Through Integrated Technology

A fresh-focused specialty food retailer  with ~170 stores in 22 states in eastern U.S., known for carefully curated offerings and an unparalleled shopping experience.

Challenge

With a focus on fresh offerings, one premium specialty grocer faced a familiar challenge: ensuring product availability on shelves while keeping shrink to a minimum. Combined with an increasingly costly and inefficient process for updating shelf tags by hand, the grocer sought new ways to streamline operations and reduce waste across stores.

Solution

A pilot was launched using electronic shelf labels integrated with our IoT platform, shelf-edge cameras, and advanced in-store analytics. The full-stack solution unified hardware and data insights, making it easy to oversee and optimize connected devices through one platform.

Results

Following the successful pilot, the project was greenlit for chainwide expansion. The results included a 32.4-hour weekly reduction in in-store task time, a noticeable improvement in shelf visibility (+8% product availability), less visual clutter across store aisles, and a 17.6% reduction in waste.
