> SES-imagotag has pioneered the development of a Bluetooth based IoT protocol in cooperation with the Bluetooth SIG and Qualcomm, as co-chair of the ESL Bluetooth Working Group
> The VUSION IoT Cloud platform will add native Bluetooth compatibility in addition to existing VUSION IoT protocol, further expanding the ecosystem and platform possibilities available to retailers and many related features
The SES-imagotag group (Euronext: SESL, FR0010288222) today announced the expansion of its current platform to Bluetooth-compatible Electronic Shelf Labels based on the recently announced new ESL wireless standard from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.
Being the global leader in digital solutions for physical commerce, SES-imagotag aims to continuously improve its level of service and provide the best technologies to its customers. As such, the Group has been heavily involved in the Bluetooth ESL working group to define but also to develop the newly announced wireless standard, providing more than 30 years of expertise in the Retail IoT industry.
“At SES-imagotag, we are constantly looking to innovate and create new solutions that can have a positive impact for our customers. Adding Bluetooth compatibility to our Cloud platform is a further testament to that ambition. As a main contributor and co-chair to the ESL Bluetooth Working Group, together with Qualcomm, SES-imagotag has brought its unrivaled experience and know-how in retail IoT applications together with seamless compatibility of our VUSION IoT protocol to the definition of this new standard specifications. This new Bluetooth protocol will complement the market leading VUSION IoT Protocol that we will also continue to further develop for the years to come”, said Andreas Rössl CTO of SES-imagotag.
Through the expansion to a new standard recently announced by the Group, SES-imagotag will have the opportunity to provide retailers with an enhanced solution portfolio, combining devices running on the VUSION IoT protocol as well as the new Bluetooth standard. By combining these protocols on the VUSION platform, which already operates hundreds of millions of devices daily, physical retailers will have the chance to further digitize their operations, through more networked shelves and stores.
Additionally, SES-imagotag teams have already started to work with leading wireless technology partners to integrate this new standard into their communications platforms and provide retailers with an easy and scalable solution.
“The digitization of physical commerce is one of most important tech challenges of our time. To achieve it, we must make sure that retailers will have access to the best tools and solutions available to them. That is why we keep innovating to make our VUSION IoT Cloud platform more agile, more scalable, highly secured and open to new protocols as well as applications,” concluded Andreas Rössl, CTO of SES-imagotag.
